Want to wear that itsy bitsy teeny weeny (insert your favorite color and pattern) bikini?
Here are 6 easy tips on how to remove your pubic hair and keep that bikini line smooth and silky. Yep, we said it. Bikini line. The land down under. Whatever you call your lady parts, we know it can get fuzzy down there. The skin is sensitive and the hair can be coarse, but bikini hair removal isn’t as tricky as you might think. So whether you want a simple trim and clean up or to get rid of all the hair in sight (Brazilian wax style), we’ve got your bikini line covered – or, we suppose, uncovered!
Step 1. Set the Stage by Trimming First
Razors are designed for shorter hair, so start your pubic hair removal by trimming the pubic area (if necessary). You can use a trimmer (we suggest trying Braun Bikini Trimmer for great convenience), scissors, or an electric shaver. This will help prevent hair from getting clogged in the blades and make it easier to shave the area. So snip away!
Step 2. Hydrate those hairs
The skin down there is quite sensitive, so it’s important to take the right steps to minimize the chances of any bikini skin irritations. Shower or bathe in warm water for at least two minutes, or better yet, do your entire bathing routine before shaving to really maximize soaking time. This will help soften the hairs for an easier and more comfortable glide.
Step 3. Lather up for a Smooth Glide
To make the pubic hair removal as smooth as possible, just lather up with a shave prep! Shave gels not only smell great, but it they also create a protective layer between the blades and your skin for an oh so seamless, smooth glide. Shave gels such as the Gillette Satin Care Sensitive . We recommend the Gillette Satin Care Sensitive as it comes with a triple lubricant formula to help protect against nicks and cuts, and also a splash of aloe for sensitive skin and areas.
Step 4. Shave with Care
Removing pubic hair requires a little TLC. Pull the skin taut to allow the blades to glide as close to the skin as possible. Keeping strokes light and gentle, start by shaving in the direction of the hair’s growth. Then, apply more shave gel and shave against the direction of the hair’s growth. Keep in mind that the skin down there is sensitive so use as few strokes as possible. We recommend the Gillette Venus Swirl, as it has 5 blades to help shave in fewer strokes, and a flexiball to contour to tricky areas like the bikini zone.
Step 5. Rinse, Dry, Moisturize – and Style!
When finished, rinse with cool water, pat dry and apply your favorite moisturizer. Then feel free to try on your favorite bikini to check out your awesome results.
Step 6. Keep It Fresh
Blunt blades aren’t effective and may also cause irritation, so replace razor blades regularly or when you feel them getting dull. Here are common signs your blades are losing their edge:
• Discomfort while shaving
• Missed hairs
• Itchy skin
Fresh blades will capture more hairs in fewer strokes, and fewer strokes means less irritation for the skin. It’s really a no brainer! Regular exfoliation also helps remove and reduce flaky skin and help prevent ingrown hairs. Bonus points if you moisturize daily.
